Linda Lee Schneider

Linda Lee Schneider passed away peacefully at Center for Hospice Care, Ernestine M. Raclin House, in Mishawaka, Indiana, on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

She was born in Brookville, Pennsylvania, on August 13, 1950 to Walter and Katherine (Sowers) Shaffer. She graduated from Brookville High School in 1969. After graduation, she went on to work for over 12 years at Owens-Illinois in Clarion, PA. While at O-I she was a hard worker, great friend, shift leader, foreman, and Union Stewardess. She was never afraid to work the worst jobs or pitch in to help a struggling line or person. 

On March 27, 1982, she married Stanley Schneider at the Assembly of God Church, Brookville, PA. In August 1988, they moved to LaPorte, Indiana, where she lived the rest of her life as a caring wife and mother. Surviving are her husband, Stanley; her sister, Carol; daughter, Christina(Jason); son, John(Charity); daughter, Rebecca (Jon); and her four grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, Joel, and Madison. 

Linda touched many lives during her time on this earth. She was abundantly giving and had more integrity than anybody I know. She was one bold lady as she powered through life—unstoppable, graceful, wholehearted. Linda loved to cook and sew. She had a creative knack for making a house really feel like a home. She had great taste and could make even the most eclectic things meld together. From her hair, to her jewelry, to her clothes, to her home, you could just feel an abundant overflowing burst of complementing creativity. Everyone enjoyed her meals, her witty sense of humor, and her oversized, companionate, pure-gold heart. Linda loved God. She prayed daily for her family, friends, neighbors, and church family. I will deeply miss my prayer-warrior mother and friend. Because of her, I have always felt a little safer and more covered by God’s hand. She will definitely be missed dearly by many. 

Per her wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Cremation will take place. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held from 4:00-8:00pm on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Christ Gospel Church, 1539 S. State Road 39, LaPorte, Indiana 46350.
