MISHAWAKA-Addison “Bud” Duane Cowling, 92, passed away May 24,
2023, at his home. He was born February 8, 1931, in Albion, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarina Cowling, his parents,
Addison H. and Marjorie L. (Hodgson) Cowling, and a sister, Dorothy
Hallam, and "loving companion, Jackie Swats". Surviving is a son, Addison Dean (Shelly) Cowling, 2 grandchildren,
Holley (Clayton) Quantz, Addison Dalton (Sierra) Cowling, and a great-
granddaughter, True Eleanor Quantz.
Early in life he was an officers mess cook for the U.S. Army which led to cooking for and managing coffee shops and steak houses after the Service. He would regularly volunteer in the kitchen during church pancake or chili suppers or Lions Club cookouts where he also served as a longtime treasurer. Bud was a book keeper at various businesses in Casey and worked at the Casey State Bank part time in retirement.
He was often described as a reserved, kind and gentle soul. Across different seasons of his life he enjoyed church work, table tennis, model trains, computers, wood carving, reading, and playing cards.
He was a fabulous father, devoted husband to his wife, Clarina, who was also his best friend in life.
