Ann Marie (Oswald) Schrock, age 90, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
Ann was born on January 19, 1935, in North Lima, Ohio, to the late Walter and Nora (Hershberger) Oswald. On August 2, 1958, she married Lowell Schrock at Eighth Street Mennonite Church in Goshen, Indiana.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: Amy of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Rodney (Cindy) of Millersburg, Indiana; and three beloved granddaughters: Allyson, Janae, and Kaycie, all of Millersburg. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, James and Evan Oswald, and her sister, Lillian Bair.
Ann graduated in 1953 from Hesston Junior Academy in Hesston, Kansas. Shortly afterward, she joined Mennonite Central Committee in Akron, Pennsylvania, where she met her future husband, Lowell. After their marriage, they became members of Olive Mennonite Church in Elkhart, Indiana, where they served as youth sponsors for 14 years. Ann also served as an elder and found joy in visiting the homebound. She faithfully taught children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years at both Olive and Hudson Lake Mennonite Church in New Carlisle.
She was an active member of the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference WMSC committee for six years and helped organize the annual women’s retreat at Camp Amigo. Ann was also privileged to sing in The Sounds of Joy, a four-part harmony women’s quartet.
Later in life, Ann became a member of The Vineyard Church in Mishawaka, Indiana, where she served on the greeting team. Even after her health made it difficult to attend in person, she remained active by watching the church’s livestream services and connecting with others by phone.
Though she faced many physical challenges—losing her eyesight, battling cancer, and living with heart disease—Ann maintained a positive spirit. She loved her family and friends deeply and spent her days in conversation with Jesus. Her faith never wavered. God is good!
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. (Eastern), and a memorial service will follow on Saturday, June 28, at 11:00 a.m. (Eastern), with a meal afterward. Both will take place at Hudson Lake Mennonite Church, 7503 N Walker Rd, New Carlisle, Indiana.
Ann loved fresh flowers. You are invited to bring a single flower to contribute to the bouquets in her memory.
