Barbara Stickel Obituary

ELKHART – Barbara Kay Stickel, 83, passed away on August 23, 2021 at Hubbard Hill – Living Wisdom Community. She was born on February 16, 1938 in Haldane, IL to Paul & Berniece (Diehl) Nesemeier.

Barbara was a talented, loving & generous person well loved by family and friends. She taught elementary school, was Assistant Director of her church preschool & expertly managed a small sporting goods business alongside her loving husband, Wayne Stickel, for many years.

Surviving are her husband, 2 daughters, Nancy (Juan) Flores & Judy (Mark) Howell, & 4 grandchildren, Gabriella & Olivia Flores, Matthew & Christopher Howell. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and brothers, William (Billy) and Keith Nesemeier.

Barbara’s family wish to extend deepest gratitude to the staff & caregivers who so lovingly cared for her at Hubbard Hill in her final years.

Barbara’s remains will be laid to rest in Lanark City Cemetery, Lanark, IL with her family. In lieu of funeral services, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. To honor her life, we ask that all who wish to participate make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana at alzni.org.

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her arrangements.
