Saddened to announce the passing of Barry L. Berg, 77, who was born on December 14, 1946. He peacefully left this world on August 8, 2024, at the Esther's House, Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart, IN.
Barry was the loving father of Tina (Marcus) Nelson and had two wonderful grandchildren, Rex Hickman and Rayth Yoder, and also two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Jon (Kim) Berg of Wichita, Kansas, and a sister, Brenda Berg-Morrow (Scott) of New York, NY.
Barry served in Vietnam for the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the Big Red 1-1st Infantry unit. He retired from Beck Welding in 1998. He formerly had dedicated some time into helping others as a former PTSD counselor and Big Brother volunteer.
Barry enjoyed hobbies such as playing cards, fishing, playing pool, and watching football and baseball. He never missed any of his grandson’s sporting events. Barry will be remembered for his sense of humor, kind heart, and unwavering loyalty to those he cared about.
Barry's battle with cancer may have taken him from us, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Barry. You will be deeply missed.
Per his wishes, cremation will take place, and there will be no services.
Memorial contributions may be given to any veteran service organization.
