Betty Jane (Zook) Konsella

ELKHART- Betty Jane Zook-Konsella, 87, of Elkhart, died Tuesday January 26, 2021 at her residence.  She was born March 4, 1933 in Orbisonia PA to Harry and Ethel (Drake) Leonard.

     On September 3, 1954 she married Marvin Zook.  He preceded her in death on May 27, 1987.  She then married Robert Konsella on December 18, 1993.  He preceded her in death on May 27, 2004.

Surviving are 4 children, Kristie (Thomas) Trowbridge of Valparaiso, IN, Steven (Cindy) Zook of Elkhart, Teri (Garrison Boye) Sarkar of Chula Vista, CA, Brian Zook of Saline, MI; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are 3 siblings, Linda (Dean) Morgan, Fred (Jean) Leonard both of Rockhill Furnace, PA, Marie Bay of Lewistown, PA and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, 2 sisters, Margaret Leonard, and Shirley Pollack as well as her beloved grandson, Bobby Zook.

     Betty graduated in 1951 from Orbisonia High School and in 1954 from Lewistown School of Nursing in PA.  She was a member of the Lewistown Nursing School Alumni, Bethany Missionary Church in Elkhart, and the Temple Baptist Church in Portland, OR.  She was a former member and past president of the Kiwanis Club in Portland, OR and she enjoyed reading, cooking, and entertaining.  Betty was a Registered Nurse and worked at Elkhart General Hospital for 25 years.  In 1988 she moved to Portland, OR and worked at the Lawrence Convalescent Center from 1990 till her retirement in 2012.

     A celebration of life service for Betty will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 30, 2021 at St. Mark Missionary Church, 55240 Bittersweet Road, Mishawaka, IN with family visitation starting at 9:30 a.m.  Officiating will be Pastor Charles Zook and Thomas Trowbridge.  Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with her care.
