ELKHART- Betty Lou Schmalenberger, 85, of Elkhart, died Friday August 28, 2020 at her residence. She was born May 3, 1935 in Peru, Indiana to Russell James & Mildred Irene (Parcell) Mann.
She married Alfred Louie Schmalenberger. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2013 in Elkhart. Surviving are 4 children, Linda Bowen of Elkhart, Debra (Ralph) Crume of Middlebury, Amy (Terry) Replogle of Vandalia, MI, James (Polly) Hatler of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 siblings, Joyce (Don) Metzler-Smith of Elkhart and twins Jerry (Pat) Mann of Vandalia and Jane (Jim) Bontrager of Elkhart and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 5 siblings.
Betty Lou graduated from Jimtown High School. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking and helping at the church. She worked at The Selmer Company for 25 years, Crown International for 22 years and at Hubbard Hill Estates for 8 years.
A visitation for Betty will be held an hour prior to the 1:30 service on Sunday Sept 6, 2020 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 3222 W. Indiana Ave. Elkhart, IN 46516. Pastor Paul Anderson will be presiding. Burial will be private at Olive (West) Cemetery.
Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with her care. Memorial contributions may be given to Calvary United Methodist Church.
