Cathy Carter Trost

Cathy Carter Trost (Kresge) passed away on September 28, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. She was 79. Cathy was born in Huntington, Indiana on May 3rd, 1946. She is survived by her husband Donald Trost, her previous husband Kenneth Waterman (Sue), her daughter Kristin Harmon (Chad), and her granddaughter Ashley-Lauren Harmon. She also had a step-daughter Dona Trost, a step-son, Scott Trost (Christine) and Three Step-Grandchilden Devon, Angel, and Matthew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas C. Kresge (Ellen) and Joan E.

Kresge. In passing, she was also reunited with her beloved grandson, Aaron James Harmon.

Cathy graduated from Arizona State in 1964 and worked in early childhood education for over 55 years. She began as a kindergarten teacher in Scottsdale Arizona. After returning to her home state of Indiana, she began a career in daycare that spanned another 50 years.

Cathy very much loved her pets throughout the years, from her childhood horse, Flame, to her most recent cat, Moe. She loved collecting dolls, needlepoint, drawing, playing Animal Crossing, and working on puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Family meant the world to her, and she meant the world to her family.

The family is having a private service, per her request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ribbon of Hope ministries or Elkhart Humane society.

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
