Charlene Marie Swihart

Charlene Marie Swihart, the loving wife of Paul A. Swihart, passed away quietly in her home on December 22, 2025.  She was 86 years old.

She was a long-time resident of South Bend, IN and was born there on April 26, 1939, to Stephen and Agnes Decker.  She graduated from high school in Green Township. 

While she was working at Associates Investment, she met the love of her life, Paul.  They were married on May 11, 1963, at Twin City Baptist by Pastor Vick Sears. They celebrated 62 years of marriage this year!  She meant world to Paul, and they enjoyed taking care of their home, garden, and pets together.

Charlene worked at Associates for 20 years and then she wanted to become a beautician.  Paul sent her to beauty school, and she worked 27 years as a beautician at Heads Together and in her home.

They have attended Grace Bible Church for at least 29 years.  Charlene came to know the Lord through Paul witnessing to her, and they faithfully served the Lord together for many years as Greeters at GBC. 

She is survived by her husband, Paul, and a brother, Edward (Sandy) Decka.

There will be a Memorial Service for Charlene on Saturday, January 10th at 3 PM at Grace Bible Church 1700 Edwardsburg Ave.  Elkhart, IN 46514.  Pastor Kyle Grant will officiate.

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
