Clara "Darlene" Sweitzer

Clara “Darlene” Sweitzer, 75, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at her residence in Constantine, MI. She was born on July 23, 1949, in Brownsville, PA, to Ray E. and Bernadine A. (Guthrie) Hibbs.

On July 12, 1968, in Mottville, MI, Darlene married Franklin Dean Sweitzer. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2011, in Constantine.

Surviving are six children: John Sweitzer, Jeffery Sweitzer, Daniel Sweitzer, all of Constantine, MI; Lori (Charlie) Toles of Bristow, OK; Karen (Adam) Bedell of Constantine; Katie E. (Aaron) Schultz of Three Rivers, MI. Darlene is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 25 plus one “in the oven” great-grandchildren; eight siblings, Orean Shafer, Larry Hibbs, Randy Hibbs, Patty McMillan, Cathy Gall, Barry Hibbs, Ray Hibbs, Garry Hibbs; and numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Franklin; and a brother, David Hibbs.

Darlene was a housewife who enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and spending time with her family.  

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 1:00-4:00pm at Faith Finders Church, 229 W. 2nd Street, Constantine, MI. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
