Danny Ray "Fatboy" Qualls, born on August 27, 1955 to William and Mary Qualls, in Savannah, Tennessee, passed away at the age of 69 on August 31, 2024, at his home in Osceola, Indiana. Known for his fun-loving nature and penchant for jokes, Danny brought laughter and joy to all who knew him.
Danny spent his career at Coachmen RV, where he was a beloved colleague and friend. Outside of work, he was passionate about bowling and softball. In his younger days, he was often found either at the lanes or on the field playing or coaching, sharing his love for the games. He was known for hitting homers so he could just jog around the bases. After he suffered a massive stroke in 1996, leaving Danny with limited mobility, you could often see him driving around town visiting the McDonald’s drive-thru, before driving around to local family members’ houses to see who would come out when he honked. He loved watching racing, wrestling, and whatever was playing on Channel 30.
On August 22, 1981, in Elkhart, Danny married Tina Oberg. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Tina; his three children, Karri (Jacob) Qualls of South Bend, IN; Jackie (Natalie) Qualls of Osceola, IN; and Cole (Tiffanie) Qualls of Elkhart; and three step-grandchildren, Brianna, Zoey, and Hunter. His four-legged “child,” Riley, as well as his four, four-legged “grandchildren,” Rueben, Jessie, Milo and Remy. Danny is also survived by his mother, Mary Qualls, and his five siblings: David (Marica) Qualls, Bobby (Debbie) Qualls, Gail Qualls, Janet Snell, and Becky (Ronny) Storms. Danny was preceded in death by his father, William Qualls.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 6:30-11:00pm at the High Dive Park Pavilion (Elkhart), where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and spirit.
