Darlene Marie Wedge, 88, resident of Wolcottville, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, at The Waters of LaGrange in LaGrange, IN. She was born on September 23, 1936, in Wellington, KS, to Noble and Faye (Rose) Phipps, both of whom preceded her in death.
On December 15, 1966, Darlene married Byron “Duke” Wedge, who preceded her in death on July 8, 1991.
Darlene is survived by her children: Randy (Wendy) Boatright of Wellington, KS; Robbin (Tom) Lawdenski of Springfield, OR; Rhonda (Mike) Fink of Wolcottville, IN; John Wedge of Billings, MT; Mae-Lynn (Garrett) Stump of Goshen, IN; Cameron (Phillip) Howard of Elkhart, IN; Chris (Lori Stump) Wedge of Bristol, IN; Greg Wedge; and Sue Boatright (daughter-in-law) of Mayfield, KS. Darlene is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Darlene was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Boatright; three grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
Darlene was employed in a home interior business for more than 20 years. Prior to retirement, she was employed as an administrator in a healthcare facility. Darlene was a foster parent to more than 50 children, during a 15-year period.
In keeping with Darlene’s wishes, cremation will take place. A private graveside service will be held in the spring of 2025, where her ashes will be interred next to her husband in Violett Cemetery in Goshen, IN.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
