Darrel James Kirkham, 68, joined his father, mother, and the rest of the church triumphant on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Born on May 31, 1957, in Elkhart, Indiana, Darrel was a graduate of Elkhart Central High School and lived a life marked by faith, family, and diligent hard work. He loved being a drummer, and dedicated significant time to the praise band at Elkhart Calvary and Pathway Assembly of God in Middlebury. Darrel loved hanging out by his pool with his family and grandkids, listening to music, and spending time with his wife Catherine of 47 years. Professionally, he worked as a machine and millwork operator at American Millwork - Good luck finding someone who could tell you if he ever missed a day …
He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Elaine (Ergle) Kirkham; his daughters, Elizabeth (Christopher) Lauver and Gerri Kirkham (Bethany Holmes); his sister, Claudia (Gary) Taylor; and his three beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Rylee, and Keely Lauver who’s cherished nickname for him was “Bapa K.”
Darrel's memory will be full of laughter, smiles, good times and choice one liners that made us all laugh. There will be visitation at 2PM, before the Celebration of Life service on Sunday November 16th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 30888 C.R. 6 Elkhart, Indiana, at 4 PM, officiated by Rev. Spencer Mielke.
Memorial contributions can be made to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or Trinity Lutheran School Tuition Assistance.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with his care.
