David Charles Leatherman

It is with heavy hearts and profound memories that we announce that David C. Leatherman has obtained his Heavenly reward on October 10, 2025 while being cared for at Greencroft Healthcare. 

David was 92 years old. He was born in Doylestown, PA to Arthur and Barbara (Nyce) Leatherman. 

David graduated from Goshen College. He had a long career serving the church at Mennonite Mission Network in the finance office and serving on the board at Amigo Centre.

David was Elkhart County Treasurer for 8 years. He finished his career at The Mennonite Foundation.

David and his wife Julia did service assignments several times in India, Mexico, Bangladesh, Belize and Kenya.

David was preceded in his heavenly journey by his wife, Julia, son, Duane and brothers, Harold, Paul, and Warren and sisters Martha Leatherman and Ethel Rush. 

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Nancy, daughter Diane (Richard) Yoder, son Ron (Miriam) and son Lee (Donna). There are 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. 

David deeply loved the Lord and was a dear friend to many.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 2-5 PM and on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 2-4 PM. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Music begins at 4 PM. Visitation and services will be held at Waterford Mennonite Church 65975 SR 15 south of Goshen IN.. The service can be viewed at WaterfordChurch.org website under livestream. 

Elkhart Crematory has been entrusted with his care.
