David Craig Ausra, 74, passed away on September 17th with his sons by his side. David was born in Dowagiac, MI to Thomas and JoAnn Ausra on September 5, 1951. David graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1969. He was the Operations Manager for Chassix, where he retired after over 20 years. David married Sandra Ausra on October 14, 2006 in Venice, FL.
David is survived by his sons David S. Ausra (Michelle) and Mike Keene (Angie); grandchildren Bailey Keene, Camryn Ausra, Elizabeth Showalter, Laney Keene, Melanie Boersma, Matthew Boersma, Brandon Boersma, Ty Spallone; and his loyal four-legged best friend, Coco, who always accompanied him on the golf cart; and special extended family, Penny Deats, Dave, Joann, Lukas, and Lexi Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and JoAnn Ausra, sisters Kathy and Susan Ausra, and wife Sandra Ausra.
Dave proudly served his country in the Army, a commitment that shaped his life and the deep sense of loyalty he carried with him. He was dedicated to his family and countless friends. His presence lit up every room he entered. He had a sharp wit and an unmistakable laugh. He touched many lives with his stories, laughter, and unwavering love. A lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines, Dave never missed a game - win or lose - and cheered with the same passion every time. His love of sports was matched only by his love of people.
Dave will be deeply missed and fondly remembered through stories that are already being shared among family and friends.
A service with full military honors will take place at Fort Custer Cemetery at 10:30am, on September 26, 2025.
