CASSOPOLIS-David Lloyd Dussel, 71 of Cassopolis, Michigan, passed away on April 26, 2025. He was born to Lloyd and Mary Jane Dussel, on January 11, 1954. David attended and graduated from Cassopolis High School. He was a member of the class of 1972.
The summer immediately following graduation, he met the love of his life at the Cass County Fair, Nancy Austin. Nancy borrowed $.50 from him during the beginning of the week. Then she tracked him down to pay him back before the fair was over and the rest is history. David married Nancy Lenora Austin on June 30, 1973.
Dave was known to be jack of all trades, and he would tell you he was a master of none. He work for Trophy and Diamond Motorhomes for many years. One of his favorite jobs was working construction with Tim Lawson Construction. He retired from Southwester Michigan Colleges maintenance department in 2019.
Dave was a passionate farmer. He loved his land and the views provided. He was a true steward of his ground. He loved working in his garden and sharing his plentiful bounty with anyone that stopped by. Dave was a member of the Cassopolis FFA and Penn 4-H. He enjoyed sitting and talking under the arbor, while enjoying a piece of pecan pie. Dave loved company and family to be around.
Dave and Nancy shared a blessed 52 years of marriage. They raised four strapping boys together. Dave enjoyed teaching them to hunt, fish, grow produce, mushroom hunt, cut wood and take care of the animals. He taught his kids survival skills and to take time to weigh out all of their options and think about their options and think about decisions before being made
