Dawn Helen Delaine Jones (Yacuk), 62, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026,surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 25, 1963, to Nick and Doris Yacuk, Dawn was a lifelong resident of Elkhart and a proud graduate of Valparaiso University. She devoted much of her professional life to teaching high school biology, inspiring generations of students with her knowledge, enthusiasm, and love of learning. A devoted Christian, Dawn lived her faith through kindness, generosity, compassion, and service to others.

Dawn embraced life wholeheartedly. She was known for her adventurous spirit, warm smile, and remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. She treasured time spent with family and friends, delighted in baking for those she loved, enjoyed golfing, and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was a member of the Middlebury Breakfast Optimist Club and at one point served as its president. She also used to have one of the largest stamp collections in Elkhart County.

Dawn was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Debra Nick of Bremen, Indiana (Charles E); and her parents, Nick and Doris Yacuk of Elkhart, Indiana.

She is survived by her brothers, Chuck Yacuk (Kathy) of Kouts, Indiana, and Ron Yacuk (Pam) of Conroe, Texas; nephews Benjamin Nick (Juliana) and Justin Nick (Kathlene), both of Indianapolis; nephew Derek Nick (Whitney) of Nappanee, Indiana; nephew James Yacuk (Cindy) of Klamath Falls, Oregon; nephew Jason Yacuk (Sherri); nephew Jeff Yacuk; nephew Andrew Yacuk (Tana); and nephew Matthew Yacuk; along with many other cherished family members and countless friends.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dawn’s dear friends Liz, Cindy, and Amanda of Elkhart, whose unwavering love, support, friendship, and assistance throughout Dawn’s health struggles meant more than words can express.

Dawn’s generous heart, vibrant personality, steadfast faith, and deep love for family and friends will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Middlebury Breakfast Optimist Club. A date and time for her celebration of life will be announced once arrangements have been made.
