Deborah Kay Simms

Deborah Kay Simms, 70, resident of Elkhart, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born on March 13, 1954 in Elkhart, IN, to Gerald R. and Maxine Ethel (Galbreath) Doty, both of whom preceded her in death.

On July 5, 1974 in Bluefield, WV, Deborah married Robert D. Simms, who survives.

In addition to her loving husband of 50 years, Deborah is survived by her sons, Michael Simms and Chris (Nikki) Simms, both of Elkhart; daughter, Heather (James) Wright of Elkhart; brother, Rick Doty of Gainesville, FL; and sister, Joanne Valadez of Texas. In addition to her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Nancy and Eddie Knight, who died shortly after birth; sister, Patricia Eskew; and brothers, Jerry Knight and Gerald Doty.

Deborah was enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a stay-at-home mom. She also served at the U.L.A. bingo hall for a few years.

No services will be held at this time. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
