Diana Dewald, 80, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
Diana, affectionately known as “Lady Di,” was born to Roman and Clara Majewski on March 16, 1944. They preceded her in death as well as her beloved husband, Charles Dewald; sisters, Mary Jane Jaronik and Jacqueline Majewski; and brothers, Gene and Rocky Dobrzykowski.
Diana earned her GED later in life which was an important accomplishment for her. She primarily worked in the restaurant business as the jack-of-all-trades in the kitchen. She enjoyed family and friends with an enthusiastic love for games of all kinds, especially euchre.
Diana married the love of her life, Charles Dewald, in 1987.
A beautiful day to Diana was being with Charles, simply enjoying a morning cup of coffee, a card game or heading to the casino. She was kind, but had a stubborn streak we all knew, expected and eventually learned would become her trademark.
She courageously made the choice to seek hospice care and give herself back to God.
Diana is survived by her sister, Karen Vicsik of Florida, and her five children: Terri Clarke, Debbie (Kenny) Wooten, Carla (Dale) Richardson, Deanna (Teri) Polk and Anthony (Kim) Layne. Also, Diana was lovingly embraced by Mindy Dewald, Brad Dewald, Greg Dewald, Stacy Osborn, and Bart Dewald.
Diana had many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who gave her joy over the years.
The family deeply honors the services provided by the Center for Hospice Care.
A memorial gathering may take place at a later date. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
