Douglas Darrel Reed

Douglas Darrel Reed, 58, of Elkhart, IN, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 18, 2025, under the care of the Center for Hospice Care. Doug was an avid Detroit sports fan; you could always see him wearing Detroit Tigers, Lions, or Red Wings gear. He was also a die-hard Michigan Wolverine fan. Anyone who met him almost instantly became a good friend.

Doug leaves behind his wife, Katherine Payne Reed; a daughter, Alexandria Reed; a son, Brendan Reed; his mother-in-law, Marsha Payne; and his beloved Shizu Tzu, Carly Jo. He also leaves behind a brother, Jim Reed (wife Jodi); a sister, Donna Reed Hamilton (Glenn); and nephews, Liam and Zane Hamilton.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Joann Reed, father-in-law, Kenneth Payne, and brothers-in-law Michael and Jeffrey Herron. The family would also like to mention special people who meant the world to Doug, his “Pops 2”-Brenda Adkins and family, Michael, Sandy, and Jaclyn Curtis, and Robert Nagle and family
