Ed was born to George and Celia Resler in Independence, Wisconsin. He was the second of four boys (Everette, Ed, Earl and Greg). Ed joined the Wisconsin National Guard at age 14 and served until 1940. He graduated from Independence High School in 1940. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served in the South Pacific until 1946, being honorably discharged from the Air Force. He attended Milwaukee State College from 1946 through 1947 then enrolled at Marquette University completing his marketing degree in 1950. In June of 1947 he met the love of his life, Dolores Mertz. They were married June 11, 1949. After his graduation in 1950, Ed worked in the insurance industry at various companies and living in various places. Ed and Dolores had four children, Susan, Janet, Paul and John. Ed loved traveling, photography and woodworking. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, George and Celia, his brothers Everette and Greg and his wife of 66 years, Dolores. He is survived by his brother Earl, his children Susan (and Ron) Bodach, Janet (and Mike) Giles, Paul (and Renee), John (and Marta), grandchildren Kristi, Karen, Kirk, Eric, Lauren, Jacob, Patrick, Kyle, Galen, Mitchell, Josiah and great- grandchildren Carter, Owen, Benjamin, Luke and Joshua. Ed was a man of honesty, integrity and commitment to his Savior, Jesus Christ, his country and his family. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service and interment will be held July 9, 2021 at 11am at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison Indiana.
