Eldred Duane Warren

WAKARUSA-Eldred “Rusty” D. Warren, 81, passed away May 25, 2022, at his home in Wakarusa. He was born September 13, 1940, in Onamia, MN to Gerald & Alice (Byers) Warren.

  On May 26, 1962, he married Dianne Shogren; she survives along with 5 children, Janice (Rusty) Clabaugh, Duane (Cindy) Warren, Russell (Cindy) Warren, LeAnne (Greg) Turpin, Kathy (Ed) Witmer, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are 2 siblings, Lloyd Warren and Arlene Shogren.   

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bernice Spielman.

  Rusty was a devout Christian who was baptized 11-23-1953 and confirmed 2-16-1956 both at Grace Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, MN.  He was a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) including, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodland, IN, St. Michael Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne, IN, Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd, MN, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, MN, and Grace Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, MN.  Rusty was an enthusiastic devotion and sermon writer with a passion for evangelism. 

He was a woodsman and logger by trade and enjoyed woodworking, wooden crafts, including Christmas gifts for his grandchildren and designing furniture.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping.  Later in life he developed a passion for writing and published 3 books all part of the Blessed to Be a Blessing Series. 

Per his wishes cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Memorial contributions may be given to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. 

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
