Ella Mae Burton

Ella Mae (also went by Ellie) Burton, of Elkhart and Indianapolis, In, beloved mother, Grandmother and wife, died 12/06/2025.  She was born in Elkhart, In., in 1948 to Willis and Dora Hershberger.  She dedicated her life to her family, raising two children, Matt Halfhill and Holli Bower with Clyde Halfhill.  She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, passion and love for family.  She loved collecting buttons and putting on a gathering large or small.  She married Brad Burton in June 1999, and they spent many wonderful years together.

Ellie was involved for many years with the Church of the Brethren, Tuesday with Friends, Indianapolis Button Club, and Quilt Club.  She loved being a band mom when her kids were in high school and loved

Being with her grandchildren.  She loved traveling the globe with her husband Brad (4) times to Alaska,

Watching and going to sporting events. She loved planning and throwing herself into projects and excelled at it.

She is preceded in death by her parents Willis and Dora Hershberger, brother Pete and sister Sue.  She is survived by her Husband Brad Burton, children Matt Halfhill and Holli Bowser, her grandchildren, Willa and Sylvie Halfhill, Madison Bowser & Joelle Woggerman, stepchildren Sara Woggerman, Katie, Kristy & Misty Burton, and her siblings Robert, Eldon and Jeff Hershberger.

The family request in lieu of flowers’ contributions may be made to Heifer.org in memory of Ellie.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held later.

Inurnment will be held at Prairie Street Cemetery at a later date

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
