Evelyn Maxine Phillips

ELKHART-Evelyn “Evie” Phillips, 91, of Elkhart, passed away at 6:20 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025 at her home.

  She was born November 20, 1933 at home to Eugene Haines and Edna Fay (Leak) McCreary.

  On December 5, 1953 in Elkhart she married Eugene “Gene” Phillips; he preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Edwin (Margurete) Haines, George (Gloria) Haines, John (Ann) Haines, 2 sisters, Irene (Haines) Mosher, and Betty (Haines) Kiefer.

  Surviving are 2 daughters, Robin Phillips of Elkhart, Mardi Phillips of Cave Creek, AZ, 3 grandchildren, Sawyer (Kurt) Beier, Tanner (Amanda) Phillips both of Carmel, Jenifer Lockwood of Three Rivers, MI, 12 great-grandchildren, Maverick, Paisley, Greenlee, Penn Beier, Flash, Sly, Gatsby, Solo Phillips, Treyvon Prestly, Calista, Tyler, Caia Lockwood, 2 great-great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Hayden Prestly.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

  Evie had great friends, she loved playing cards, crocheting, and card making.  She was an avid basketball and hockey fan.

  Per her wishes cremation will take place and there will be no services.

  Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
