Francis Elmer Starr, Jr

Francis (Frank) Elmer Starr Jr, passed away on April 28 in Dowagiac after an unexpected cancer diagnosis. Frank was born in Des Moines Iowa on July 16, 1959. Frank Graduated from Cassopolis High School in 1977. He Married Maria McCreary in 1982 and from that union came their two children Francis Earl and Jessica Marie. 

Frank had many jobs throughout his life, but his main career was as a truck driver. His first trucking job was at Mobile Facilities in Cassopolis. He worked for Fairmont Homes for years delivering mobile homes across the United States and Canada. He also worked for Robert Weed Corporation and his last job was at Duo-Form in Edwardsburg.

Frank was always involved in his kids activities and loved watching them in whatever they did

Frank loved to work on cars and was always helping people. Some of his favorite times were spent in the garage and junk yards with his friends Mike and Paul searching for parts for old cars to restore. Frank also loved woodworking and was a talented artist. Frank gave the best gifts and always thoughtful with his gifts for birthdays and holidays. Frank loved traveling every year to Moulton, Iowa to see his family at their family reunion. Some of his favorite times were spent in Iowa. 

Frank is survived by his son and daughter in law, Francis (Frank) and Barbara (Barbie) Starr of Niles and his grandchildren Adam Starr and Elaine (Ellie) Starr of Niles. He is also survived by his sister and brother in law Debbie and Darl Drudge of Leesburg, IN. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. 

Frank was proceeded in death by his father and his daughter Jessica in 2011.

Per Frank’s wishes there will be no service or memorial. Family will observe a private memorial at a later date.
