Francis "Frank" Alfred Buwa

Francis “Frank” Alfred Buwa, 82, passed away at Brickyard Healthcare, Elkhart, on Monday, November 4, 2024.

Frank was born on March 17, 1942 in South Bend, IN, to Francis and Ida (Lyons) Buwa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tina Frost; son, Floyd Buwa; brothers, Joseph and Roger Buwa; and his first wife, Janice Kendall Buwa.

On June 27, 1999, in South Bend, Frank married the former Teresa Ann Brichan. Surviving are his loving wife, Teresa; daughter-in-law, Mary (Edwards) of South Bend, IN; son-in-law, Rodney Frost of Mishawaka IN; grandchildren, Angel Michaels of Mount Morris, NY; Samantha Buwa and Jason Buwa, both of Mishawaka, IN; Tracy (Juan Sr.) Menendez of Montezuma, IN; Tiffany (Xavier) Kipp of Elkhart, IN; Bobby (Katie) Frost of Mishawaka, IN; eight great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Marvin, David, Jerry, and Rick Buwa.

Frank, aka “Red” to his co-workers, was a welder-fabricator his entire working career. He worked at Ironcraft, Ball Band, Challenger, B&B Industries, and Utility Body Werks.  

Frank and Teresa thoroughly enjoyed rides on his burgundy Honda Goldwing motorcycle. The best trip was their honeymoon, a motorcycle road trip to Detroit’s Henry Ford Museum, Stratford Ontario’s Shakespeare Festival, and Niagara Falls, Canada.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the South Bend First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1936 Altgeld Street, South Bend, IN.  A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Elder Alex Niculaescu officiating. From 12:00-2:00 p.m., there will be a meal at the church. Interment will be scheduled at a later date at Olive Cemetery, Elkhart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Edwardsburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, 27718 US-12, Edwardsburg, MI 49112.
