On March 27, 2021, Glenda Ruth Bonta went to be with the Lord. She knew Jesus and trusted Him to be her Savior. She was 86 years of age, born October 23, 1934 in Algonquin, IL to Ruth and Ralph Zange. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane of 66 years.
Glenda was a servant’s servant. She always wanted to do something for her kids and grandkids, working behind the scenes cooking, cleaning, and helping out. She had an extremely high work ethic, often outlasting the people around her. She was kind, compassionate, and very soft spoken. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone. She rarely asserted her opinion on our decisions, but always offered great wisdom when we sought her advice. She also faithfully served behind the scenes at her church. She loved her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids dearly. In earlier years, she bravely took all four grandkids on vacations alone to make memories. She lived for photos of the grandkids and great grandkids as many of them were spread across the U.S. She also grew very attached to the pets in her life. Her favorite Bible verses were Col. 3:12-14, Philippians 4:4-9, Psalm 19:14, and 1 Thes. 5:16-18.
She is survived by 2 sons Jeffrey (Debbie) Bonta and Joey (Laurie) Bonta, 4 grandchildren Jason (Sarah) Bonta and Heidi (Doug) Prough, and Jeremy (Kallay) Bonta and Bethany (Ben) Battjes, 10 great grandchildren (Joelle, Dalton, Nolan, Summer, Caleb, Rhett, Cora, Maggie, Ruby, and Miles), and her sister Cheryl Peters from Springfield, Co. Mom/Grandma will be missed more than any words you can express.
A memorial service will take place for both Glenda and Duane at a later date, followed by a private burial in Elgin, IL.
Elkhart Cremation has been entrusted with the arrangements.
