Jairo Andres Barrientos Medina

ELKHART- Jairo Andres Barrientos Medina, 47, passed away January 4, 2022, at Goshen Hospital.  He was born April 17, 1974, in Cabimas, Venezuela to Aparicio Barrientos and Isabel Medina de Barrientos.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Esther Barrientos Medina.

  Surviving are 5 siblings, Raquel Barrientos Medina, Eliecer Barrientos Medina, Ruth Barrientos Medina, Griselda Barrientos Medina, Daniel Barrientos Medina and numerous nieces and nephews.

  Since he was a child he loved music, he was a gifted composer and performer, focusing on the bass, acoustic guitar, and cuatro.  He followed that passion and became a music teacher for over 20 years.  Jairo always dreamed to come to America, that dream came true in October 2021.  In the short time he was here he made many friends and served the Lord at River Oaks Community Church Espanol and Elkhart Campus.   While on his way to America he went to many other countries including Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Mexico, in each country he found a church and faithfully served the Lord.

  He will be remembered as a kind, humble and generous man, this was shown many times but also in Venezuela when he took care of his parents and sister while they passed.

  A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022, at River Oaks Community Church at 6:00 p.m.
