James J. Bechler, 75, of Goshen, Indiana died peacefully at his daughters’ home in Middlebury, Indiana March 19, 2025.

He was born July 17, 1949, in Pigeon, Michigan to Harold E. and Laura Ann (Wachner) Bechler, both proceeded him in death.

He married Janet (Werner) Bechler on July 3, 1997. She preceded him in death. Also proceeding him in death was his brother Ronald Bechler (Kay) in 2017.

Surviving is his son James H. Bechler (Lisa), Angola, IN, daughter Shawn (Scott) Huys, Middlebury, IN. Brothers Larry (Kay) Bechler, Goshen, IN, Roger Bechler (Partner Franciso Soares), Miami, FL. Three grandchildren, Zachary (Adrienne) Huys, Elkhart, IN, Cameron Huys, Grand Haven, MI, Justin Bechler, Kendallville, IN, and one great grandchild Wrenley Huys, Elkhart, IN as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Jim worked for Earthway Products in Bristol, IN for 29 years and after retirement, he worked for a good friend at A-1 Security in Goshen, IN.

Jim loved working in his yard, sports, especially the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame Football. Jim spent time in Height-Ashbury in San Francisco, California in the 1960’s and loved telling those stories. Jim loved 50’s and 60’s music.

In accordance with Jim’s wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services. A private gathering for family and friends will take place at his daughters’ home in Middlebury, IN at a later date.

The family would like to thank Goshen Cancer Center and Goshen Hospice for their loving care and support.
