Janet Lynn Cheney, 74, of Mishawaka, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the Center for Hospice Care-Raclin House in Mishawaka, IN. She was born on March 11, 1950, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Russell Alfred and Arlene Ada (Wetzel) Myers.
In 1968, Janet married Burton W. Cheney, Jr.; he preceded her in death on January 11, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Brent A. Cheney; daughter, Carrie Ann Cheney; and sister, Sharon McLaughlin. Surviving are three children, Burton W. (Amanda) Cheney III of South Bend, IN; Brian D. (Julie) Cheney and Teresa A. Miller, both of Niles, MI; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Wayne Myers of Niles, MI; Harold Myers of Granger, IN; Jack Myers and Judy Greenwood, both of Niles, MI; and Linda Roberts of Galien, MI.
Janet was an avid Notre Dame fan. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and she made the world’s best potato salad.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 34 Sycamore Street, Niles, MI. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
