ELKHART-Jeanette Hart, 93, passed away December 25, 2021, at Hubbard Hill Estates. She was born February 13, 1928, in Salem, IN to Bert & Edith (Morris) Hoar.
On June 5, 1951, she married Richard Hart; he preceded her in death in 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Morris Hoar and a sister, Helen Purkhiser.
Surviving are 2 children, Barbara (James) Snell, Elizabeth (Kenneth) Jacobs, 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brent) Snell Kattau, Eric (Ivana) Snell, Rachel (Aaron Croft) Jacobs, Rebecca (Michael) Holden and 7 great-grandchildren.
Jeanette graduated from Campbellsburg High School, in 1946, received her Bachelor of Science from Purdue in 1950 and her Master’s in Home Economics from Western Michigan University in 1970. She worked several places throughout her life such as, Northwood High School, Matty’s English School in Japan, and finally owning Lanning House Bed and Breakfast in Salem for over 30 years. Jeanette was a member of the Indiana Bed and Breakfast Association, Christian Woman’s Fellowship and enjoyed quilting as well. She was very active in many churches throughout her life including, Central Christian Church in Elkhart, First Christian Church on Salem, and Mt. Tabor Christian Church in Campbellsburg.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2021, at Westview Christian Church, 2638 N.W. Washington School Campbellsburg, IN 47108.
Memorial contributions may be given to Washington County Indiana Community Foundation, 1707 N. Shelby St. #100 Salem, IN 47167.
