ELKHART- Jerald M. “Jerry” Watchorn, 72, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away Wednesday April 8, 2026, at the Center for Hospice Care, Esther’s House in Elkhart. He was born August 22, 1953, in Munising, Michigan.
On July 1, 1983, he married Alice F. “Cookie” Cripe. She survives along with 2 children, Thom (Amy) Watchorn of Charleston, SC, Nicole Lovely of Middlebury, IN; 6 grandchildren, Isabel, Bre, Dominic, Anthony, Lillia and Blane. Also surviving is his mother, Shirley Watchorn of Elkhart, IN; 3 siblings, Rick (Dody) Watchorn of Elkhart, Deb Detwiler of Bristol, Kim (Brian) Williamson of Elkhart; a brother-in-law, Kevin Marcus of Tampa, FL and many nephews, nieces and dear friends. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Warren Woodill, his father, Harold Watchorn, 2 siblings, John Watchorn, Patricia Watchorn Marcus and a brother-in-law, David Detwiler.
Jerry worked in the RV Industry for many years. He was an avid fisherman, loved all things history, enjoyed reading, camping and in his younger years was a competitive roller skater.
There will be an open house celebration of life on Saturday June 27th from 12-3 at Congdon Park Gazebo, Bristol, IN.
Light refreshments will be served and casual attire like jeans and a t-shirt is welcome.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice Care or the Oncology Unit at Elkhart General Hospital.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with his care.
