Joel Todd Trevino

ELKHART-Joel Todd Trevino, 50, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family. 

He was born August 20, 1971, to Abel and Joanne (Halsey) Trevino in Elkhart, IN.

On February 18, 1994 he married Tara L Durfee.  He is survived by his loving wife, 2 children Nicholas Trevino, of Lafayette, IN. and Allison Trevino of Elkhart, IN.  His mother, a sister Amy Trevino and brother Scott Trevino all of Elkhart.  Also surviving is an aunt Diana “Dee Dee” Barrett of Goshen, three nieces and four nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, aunt Barbara Trevino and uncle Erasmo “Ed” Trevino.

He graduated from Jimtown High school in 1990.  He later attended Indiana University South Bend where he graduated as a triple major and won the banking award for two consecutive years before going on to get his master’s degree at Bethel College. 

He spent many years working locally in the RV industry. 

Todd enjoyed joining his family in volunteering for many organizations.  He could often be found early in the morning setting up the tent and making breakfast for the Purdue Crew as a member of the Purdue Crew Parents’ Club.  Spent at least six different 24-hour periods as a chaperone for his children’s Relay for Life teams.  And has set up balloon arches and walked in many events for Alzheimer’s Services. 

His hobbies include smoking meats and grilling for his family, home improvements and boating. He loved roller coasters and going to Cedar Point every year has been a tradition since childhood. He has taken several road trips with his family to see unique destinations across the United States. He could often be found hosting family game nights. 

There will be a small graveside service for immediate family only.  A celebration of life event will be held for family and friends at a later date. Memorial Donations may be made to Caring Cove Hospice.
