ELKHART-Jose A. Perez-Rojas, 53, passed away November 9, 2020 at his home in Elkhart after an 11-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born August 2, 1967 in Chapultepec 374 Distrito Federal Mexico to Eustaquio Perez & Francisca Rojas. He attended the University of Esca Campus Tepepa where he graduated with a business degree.
He arrived in the United States in 1999.
On April 9, 2005 he married Ann Marie Surface Riggs at her parents’ home in Elkhart.
Jose is survived by his loving wife Ann; one daughter; Magali Barrera of Mexico, four sons; Miguel (Kelsey Wood), Israel (Alexis), Diego (Christina Gipson), and Chayanne all of Elkhart; three granddaughters; Sophia and Graciella Perez, Isabella Esquedo-Gipson; three grandsons; Mason, Cade and Elliot Perez all of Elkhart. Jose has four brothers: Raymundo, Eustaquio, Guillermo and Pablo and three sisters: Maria Bertha, Maria de Jesus, and Maria Guadalupe and his father, Eustaquio all of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by mother, Francisca and two sons, Jose, Jr., and Carlos.
Since being in Elkhart Jose has worked 15 years at Homan Lumber and the last five years at Team Spirit. Thank you to Team Spirit for the wonderful and loving support that was given to Jose during his extended illness.
He spent most of his free time playing soccer with his sons or competing in Tae Kwon Do tournaments with Elkhart Martial Arts. He was an avid volunteer for 15 years with Toys for Tots, and also volunteered for Stuff-A-Bus, the Postal Food Drives, the Prairie Creek Run Neighborhood clean-ups, The Salvation Army Thanksgiving Dinners, and The Ribbon of Hope Triathlon.
In accordance with Jose’s wishes, cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services with a celebration of life service to be held at a later date at the Adamsville Road Church of God.
