Jose Vera Rodriquez

ELKHART-Jose Vera Rodriguez, 77, passed away February 18, 2021 at his home in Elkhart surrounded by his family.  He was born April 25, 1943 in Ancihuacuaro, Mexico.

  He was preceded in death by his father, J. Jesus Vera, mother, Maria Rodriguez de Vera and 4 siblings, Florencio, Refugio, Carolina, and Maria.

  Surviving is his wife, Ernestina Gaytan De Vera, 4 children, Jorge Vera Gaytan, Javier (Ruby) Vera Gaytan, Carlos (Elizabeth) Vera Gaytan, Jose M. (Roselia) Vera Gaytan and 14 grandchildren.   Also surviving are 4 siblings, Manuel Vera Rodriguez, Gabriel Vera Rodriguez, Genoveva Vera Rodriguez, Rosa Vera Rodriguez, and numerous loved ones.

  Jose was a wonderful provider for his family and was considered a workaholic that would never miss a day of work even when he was sick.  He held many jobs throughout his life, but his favorites were being an excavator and running a dump truck.   He was a man of God, role-model, would always help anyone in need and because of his sense of humor, inspiring character, and generous spirit he had many friendships that lasted a lifetime as well as many new friends he met along the way.  His grandchildren and family meant a lot to him and he enjoyed spending time with them and grilling carne asada. 

  Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday February 27, 2021 at Iglesia Bautista El Refugio, 4206 E. Bristol Street Elkhart, IN 46514.

  Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
