Josephine Lubensky Obituary

ELKHART, Indiana - Josephine Lubensky, 97, passed away at 9:34 AM on March 23, 2023, at Hubbard Hill Community. She was born November 27, 1925, in Owego, NY to Joseph & Catherine (Yurish) Jastremsky. Josephine later moved to New Castle after she married Stanley Lubensky.  They were married 66 yrs before his passing in 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and all of her 9 siblings.

Surviving family members include her 3 children, Mark (Jane) Bens in North Carolina, Philip (Jodi) Lubensky in South Bend, Indiana and Teresa Lubensky in Wiley, Texas. Josephine was blessed with 4 grand-children, 5 great grand-children, 1 step great grand-daughter and close family friend, Edward Latos.

Josephine originally lived on Moravia St. on the south side and was a member of St Philip & James church. She later moved to Neshannock township and joined St Camillus church.

Josephine worked a few years at St. Philip & James Catholic school, in the cafeteria.  She worked many years for Shenango China as an inspector and was the LAST employee when Shenango China closed. She was a  member of Silver Threads and enjoyed playing bingo, along with making pierogi at the church.

Mom's hobbies included traveling, playing cards, listening and dancing to polka music, and doing things with her hands..... And we can't forget to mention her favorite past time, bargain-hunting.  Mom also enjoyed her time with her friends and loved hosting family gatherings and cherished playing with the babies.

As we were cleaning her house, in preparation for selling it,  we became aware of how organized she really was. She had lived through the depression, so saving everything was very necessary to her. That even included  saving old pickle jars, cool whip containers, empty cereal boxes (neatly bundled) and reusing duct tape.

We will miss her loving  and caring heart, resourcefulness and creativity. The family would like to thank the staff for all their support and care from Hospice, Hubbard Hill & Tanglewood here in Indiana.  ClenMoore Place & Home Helpers in New Castle.
