Juanita Grace Shenk

GOSHEN-Juanita Grace Brenneman Shenk age 91 of Goshen, Indiana passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026 at her home in Goshen, Indiana.  She experienced complications while recovering from pneumonia.

  Juanita was born on April 30, 1934 in La Junta, Colorado to Millie and Fred Brenneman. She grew up in Heston, Kansas. She attended Heston College and later Goshen College where she received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

  In 1957 she married Wilbert R. Shenk in Jakarta, Indonesia. They were married for 63 years. 

Juanita had a big heart and was known for her desire to be of service to those in need. She participated in service projects in Indonesia, Iraq, and Liberia. She frequently volunteered for various activities at Belmont Mennonite Church where she was an active member for 60 years. In recent years she continued volunteering for projects with MCC and MDS.

  Juanita was predeceased by her husband, Wilbert.

  She is survived by her three children, Suzanne, Maria, and Thomas, and her son-in-law Willie, as well as five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.

  Family was very important to Juanita and she loved to gather everyone for large family meals.

  Per her wishes cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at Belmont Mennonite Church in Elkhart, IN on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. The service will be held at 11:00 with a meal to follow.

  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Mennonite Mission Network or Mennonite Central Committee.      

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
