Judith K. McMeekan

Judith “Judy” McMeekan of Edwardsburg, MI, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, February 17, 2025, with her family by her side. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and partner. She was wonderfully taken care of for the last year at Helping Angels Group Home for Seniors by George and Sarah Mtuwa.

Judy’s parents, Robert and Ethel Surls, preceded her in death. Judy had three siblings: Bill Surls (deceased), Betty (Jerry) Coker, and Janet (Fred) Shrock (both deceased.)

Judy had two children: Raymond Williams (deceased) and Rhonda (Scott) Pauley. Judy is also survived by her grandchildren, Matt (Erin) Horvath, Thomas (Marissa) Williams, and Daniel (Lydia) Williams, as well as great-grandchildren, Waylon Williams, Jackson Horvath, Kendall Horvath and Walker Williams.

Judy had a zest for life and was always on the go. She loved to golf, bake, cook, spend time with her kids and grandkids, and travel with the love of her life, Phill Cohee, who preceded her in death. Judy and Phill loved spending winters in Bonita Springs, FL, where they could golf to their heart's content and just enjoy the weather.

In the 1990s, Judy and Phill owned a company called JPC Mat Company, a company that made floor mats for the RV industry. Before that, Judy dabbled in real estate. Not one to sit still, she was always attending grandkids’ sporting events or babysitting them or having her kids and grandkids visit in Florida. Judy’s very favorite place was the casino—she loved her slots!

A celebration of life will be announced in the near future.
