Kathryn Louise Theobald-Brubaker Obituary

Kathryn Louise Theobald-Brubaker, 84 was born and raised in Manilla, Indiana on July 30, 1940 to 


Lowell and Irene (Kuhn) Stiers.  She as a farm girl raised on beautiful Dairy Farm.  Later in life she 


served as deacon of Zion in Shelbyville, Indiana.  She worked at L.S. Ayres an as administrator for 


Blue Cross Blue Shield and Wishard Hospital.  She worked at Sears Hardware until her mid-seventies.  


She moved to South Bend Indiana in 2018 to be closer to her daughter.  Soon she met Don Brubaker 


after a "conversation starter" at South Bend Farmer's Market.  They married 3 years later in December 


2022.  


Along with being a great conversation starter she enjoying a rich social life with friends.  Kathy had a 


passion for dogs, cats, and back yard bird watching.  Her love for chocolate, cookies and cats have 


been passed down quite well within the family.  


On April 29th, 2025 Kathy passed away in hospice care at Raclin House in Mishawaka.  For 5 months 


she fought off illness after illness.  Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Assistants, Dula, Chaplain and Volunteers 


made Kathryn's transition into the next beautiful life comforting and peaceful. 


Kathy will be greatly missed by her husband Donald Brubaker, Daughter Karen (Erik) Malling, Grandson 


Riley (Victoria) Malling, Granddaughter Kasha Malling, Great Granddaughter Evelyn Malling, Brother 


Richard (Janice) Stiers, Nieces: Angie Yeend, Kim Miller, Debra Sample, Robin Eder.  Her Ex Thomas 


Theobald also survives.  


She was preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Irene Stiers, a Brother Kenny Stiers and (infant) 


Sister Janet Lynn Stiers.  


A Memorial Service will be held at Zion on May 31st at 11am.  Zion Community Church is located at 


211 South Saint Peter Street in South Bend Indiana, across the street from Howard Park.  In lieu of 


Flowers the family asks donating to (All 4 Animals Rescue Inc.) 2300 W. 6th St. Mishawaka, IN 46544 


or any shelter in your area. 


Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
