LaVona Martz

Our mother LaVona (Searfoss) Martz 06-10-55 to 08-03-25 passed away peacefully at the Center for Hospice Care for Veteran families. She was surrounded by her daughters, granddaughters, and left this world with the beautiful sound of Amazing Grace sang by her best friend as her heart took its final beats. Her family, friends, home, books, and pets were her safe space.  She was always home, her door was always open, and she was a dedicated caretaker for her grandchildren. LaVona loved children and she was a second mother to many of our friends and their children. She had a beautiful free spirit, beautiful smile, and a laugh that was a one of a kind. She had a lasting relationship of 55 years with her best friend Debra (Bemiller) Kantner. Her friendly, kind, spirit, and natural beauty has not changed since they attended Northwood High School Class of 1973. The love in her heart, the things she has done for others, and her caretaking will leave an unforgettable impression on our hearts, and many others.  Our mother was widowed to Gary Martz. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.  LaVona was proceeded in death by her daughter Kami Ellis and her husband Gary Martz. Survivors are her daughters Amy and Kayla Ellis, granddaughters Aubree, and Brinn Ellis, stepfamily Jim Gardner, Sheryl (Jason) Juday, Greg (Angie) Martz, Logan and Hayden Juday, great grandson Dean.
