LAVONE MARIE HICKS September 15, 1944 – August 15, 2023 ELKHART, IN - LaVone Marie Hicks, 78, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday August 15, 2023. She was born September 15, 1944, in Rockford, IL, to Ernest & Barbara (Shallcross) Schultz. Surviving is her spouse, Ron L. Hicks, Sr., married 1973. Surviving are her 3 children, Sheila K. (Troy) Wagers of Simpsonville, SC, Kimberly A. (Bill) Kissam of Lebanon, TN, Ronnie L. (Tina) Hicks of Elkhart, IN.; 6 grandchildren, Jimmy (Brittany Cromwell) Turnmeyer, Brittany Porter, Jade (Nick) Kirkland, Devan Porter, Ian Holdread, Zachary (Madison) Hicks; and 7 Great Grandchildren. Additional survivors include four siblings, Dennis (Lynn) Schultz, John (Dotty) Schultz, Larry (Sue) Schultz, and Cheryle (Curt) Navickis. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. LaVone attended Harlem High School in 1962. She previously worked at Gunite Corp. for 10 years, She attended Lincolnwood Baptist Church while living in Machesney Park, IL. She enjoyed watching The Hallmark channel, shopping on QVC and HSN, and listening to Gospel music with her husband Ron. She also enjoyed fishing and playing card games and spending time with her children and grandchildren. A visitation will be held at 2:00pm and a celebration of life will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday August 23, 2023 at Walley Mills Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E Jackson Blvd, Elkhart, IN 46516.
