Leonard DeWitt Obituary
ELKHART- January 30, 1944 - April 17, 2022
Leonard DeWitt “Len” passed away on Easter morning peacefully after suffering heart failure.
He was born on January 30, 1944 to Wilma (Leonard) and Jack DeWitt in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
On August 20, 1966, he married Jane Simon who survives him.
Leonard is also survived by a sister Candace DuVall (Richard) of Fort Wayne; daughters Laura DeWitt of Angola and Dianna Nauman (Brian) of Elkhart; son Joseph DeWitt of South Bend.
A proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame, he went on to serve as a school psychologist for the Elkhart County Special Education Cooperative. His greatest hobbies were gardening, cheering on the Fighting Irish and trivia. A life long student, Len took college classes up to the time of his illness. He will be remembered as a great teacher, moral compass and councilor to his family and friends.
Elkhart Cremation Services are entrusted with arrangements. A family memorial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers his family request donations be made in his honor to the
Elkhart Public Library Children’s Program in Elkhart, Indiana.
