Leslie Elaine Zegiob

Dr. Leslie Elaine Zegiob passed away peacefully at home in South Bend IN, surrounded by family, as was her wish.

Leslie was born on October 17, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio, to her parents, Dr. Charles George Zegiob and Elinore (Jones) Zegiob. She was raised in the Cleveland area, where she developed a lifelong passion for horseback riding in the Cleveland Metroparks’ “Emerald Necklace.”

She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology and maintained a successful practice for many years in northern Indiana, where she dedicated herself to helping others with compassion and insight.

Leslie lived a life full of curiosity, beauty, and quiet strength. She had a deep love of animals, with a special connection to horses. She found peace in nature, especially on trail rides with her favorite Quarter Horse, Cody Bill, along with many other beloved horses through the years. She was passionate about the conservation of native and indigenous plants and took great joy in tending her wildflowers.

She was deeply drawn to Native American art and culture, appreciating its history, meaning, and connection to the earth. Leslie also had a passion for traveling the world and was always eager to experience new places and perspectives. Whether near or far, she carried a sense of wonder with her—a trait she passed on to her daughter.

She loved literature and classical music, and at home she could often be found lost in a good book or spending time among her wildflowers.

Leslie was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Dr. Lynne Ellen (Zegiob) Voltz and Laurel Eden (Zegiob) Schumacher.

She is survived by her daughter, Erin Lynne Devereaux, and numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her with love.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice in her honor.

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
