Lonnie Allen, Jr Obituary

ELKHART- Lonnie B. Allen, Jr belovedly known as “Boochie”, “Uncle Boo” and “LA” was called home June 9, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN, surrounded by his family, who adored him.  He was born on September 28, 1965, in Elkhart, IN to Marquita (Gamble) and Lonnie B. Allen, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory are his precious sisters whom he cherished in life, Cheryle (Hubert) Brown, Rochelle Allen, Deborah (Johnny) Smith, and Kimberly Levy.  Brother, Larry Warden, and sister Mary Jones.  His beautiful children, Ashley (Amanda) Allen, Kylee (Mike) Vazquez, Loni Allen, and Tyler “Trey Stylez” Allen.  Furthermore, his 13 amazing grandchildren, one of whom, Seven, preceded him in death.  “Uncle Boo” was loved deeply and adored by all his nieces and nephews.  He found love with Kaye Carter, who stayed by his side till his last breath.

Lonnie was loved beyond measure.  But he made it easy to love him.  No matter the time, or the circumstances, if you needed someone you could call Boo.  The man who loved basketball and used the sport to bond with everyone he loved.  A jack-of-all trades, Boo could pull up, cut your hair fix your brakes, mow your lawn, kick your butt in a game of hoops and grill for the family all in one day.  He was just that cool.  The true definition of a “mama’s boy”, he loved his mama and spent every moment he could making sure she was happy.  Whether that was fixing up her house, planting her garden, or simply sitting in her presence and just listening to her talk, he was truly “mama’s baby”.  To his sister’s it was no different, they cherished their brother and took care of him till the end.  Cheryle, with her heartfelt meals, Rocky with her unconditional love, Debbie with her motherly love, and Kim who thought she was his protector.  They are the definition of “my brother’s keeper”.  Lonnie loved his children, dearly.  Always bragging about his babies.  He was a proud father, but a prouder grandfather.  His big, beautiful smile shined brighter when they were around.  Uncle Boo treated his nieces and nephews like they were his children, always showing up for them, and always taking the time out to get to know what was new in their lives.  He loved his family.  And they loved him.  Everybody loved Boochie.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Lonnie Sr and Marquita. A sister, Sheila Allen, a stepsister Carol Williams, a stepbrother Eddie Fields and his firstborn grandson, Seven Proctor.
