Lynn Jeffrey “Jeff” Rohrer, of Granger, Indiana, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Jeff was 77 and was surrounded by many loving family members when he peacefully passed.
Jeff was born to Henry “Hank” Rohrer and Thelma “Edie” Rohrer-Ruiter on March 1, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana. Jeff was an only child and grew up and matured very fast, since he became a father at an early age. He joined the Osceola Volunteer Fire Department and truly enjoyed serving his community. Following his father’s footsteps, he pursued a career in manufacturing at A.M. General, leading to management positions for the remainder of his career. He retired from L.E. Johnson in 2012. After retirement, he joined Lochmandy Motors as a courtesy driver for the service department.
Later in life, Jeff met his beloved wife, Audrey, and they married in 2008. He loved her with all his heart and wanted her near him always. Jeff was a devoted follower of Christ, and he and Audrey attended Granger Missionary Church, where they enjoyed fellowship and Bible study groups.
Jeff loved spending time with Audrey and his family. His lifelong interests included auto racing, blues and gospel quartet music festivals; he enjoyed watching the Bears and Notre Dame football. He loved the bass guitar and always wanted to learn to play but never did. Being left-handed, when he could find anything made for left-handed people, it excited him. He was notoriously frugal and could pinch a penny to make two but was graciously generous.
He was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Audrey (Wright) Rohrer as well as his four children and three stepchildren: Danita (Bob) Burgh, Angela Rohrer, Jeff (Lesa) Rohrer, Kim (Lamar) Grady, Chad (Abby) Barrier, Wayne (Lisa) Barrier, and Richard (Sara) Barrier. He will be forever cherished and remembered by his 29 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.
Now that Jeff has passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Jeff’s physical life on earth, it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him. Jeff joins his parents, Hank and Edie; great grandson, Karter; and step-granddaughter, Amber, in heaven.
A Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Jeff Rohrer will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Granger Missionary Church, 50841 Birch Road, Granger, IN. Pastor Jason Dickinson will officiate. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 11:00am–1:00pm.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with his care.
