Marilyn Vela Obituary

ELKHART-Marilyn J. Vela, 79, passed away January 20, 2022, at her home in Elkhart. She was born July 23, 1942, in Elkhart to the late Harold & Erma (Bloss) Smeltzer.

In 1970 she married Jesus Vela; he preceded her in death.

Surviving are 7 children, Deb (Larry) Thomas, Linda Carroll, Cindy Carroll, Joe Vela, Ann Vela, Jerry Vela, Natalie Vela, 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Marilyn enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, shopping and in her younger years was a very good baton twirler. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother and her family will truly miss her.

Memorial contributions may be given to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
