Mary Lou Burleson

ELKHART-Mary Lou Burleson, 90, passed away July 23, 2021 Elkhart General Hospital.  She was born October 19, 1930 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to David & Veronica (Carey) Bowman.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Hugh Bowman, and a sister, Jeanne Arnott.

  Surviving is a sister, Julia White, numerous nieces and nephews and 2 lifelong friends, Yvonne Kellerman and Treva Duncan.

  Mary Lou was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church and was an animal lover.  She enjoyed painting, writing stories, poetry, and sarcastic quips.   She also liked listening to music, swimming in her lake “The Black Velvet”, and was a wonderful cook.  Mary Lou was a woman of substance, that was full of wisdom, had style and grace and was a true inspiration to others.  She remained independent to the very end and for all who knew her it was a privilege.

  Cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

  Memorial contributions may be given to the Ribbon of Hope.
