Melora Amundson died July 9, 2025 at the age of 75 at Goshen Hospital. Melora had been ill with cancer. Melora was born on March 28, 1950 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to John and Levina Plett.
Melora graduated from nursing school in 1972 and worked in Winnipeg in a children’s hospital burn unit. In 1975 hearing the call of God she moved to Goshen, Indiana to attend Zion Chapel (Harvest) where she met and was united in marriage to Brian Amundson on July 1, 1978 in her hometown in Canada. Together Brian and Melora raised 4 sons. Melora continued her nursing career at Goshen Hospital and later at Greencroft Nursing Center.
Melora led a life filled with warmth, love, wisdom, and devotion to Jesus and family as a mother, nurse, homeschool teacher, best friend, and a cherished homemaker. Her love for God and people touched many lives with her cheerful countenance, kindness, prayers, and support, leaving countless memories for us all. Melora made her home a welcoming haven and enjoyed gardening, canning, hosting, delicious food, sewing, playing table games, and visiting.
Melora is survived by her 3 brothers Fin, Earl, and Quentin: husband Brian and 4 sons; Ranon &(Christina) Amundson (Clinton Wisconsin); Jori & (Biname) Amundson (Goshen, Indiana); Tavis & (Marilyn) Amundson (Goshen, Indiana); Quinlan & (Lindsey) Amundson (Valparaiso, Indiana)
Melora was known as “Granny” to her 14 grandchildren; Adam, Arabella, Thor, Jabin, Gabriel, Duke, Asher, Vail, Titan, Abigail, Maverick, Elianah, Nyla, Valor.
A Memorial Service for Melora will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Glory Church 70921 County Road 29 Syracuse, Indiana 46567
