GOSHEN-Myrtle L. Huber, 97, passed away November 3, 2020 at Greencroft Healthcare in Goshen. She was born November 15, 1922 in Walnut, Iowa to Jud & Ethel (Walden) Forbes.
On September 7, 1946 she married Orris Huber; he preceded her in death on July 29, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and 1 granddaughter.
Surviving are 2 children, Roy (Ramona) Huber, Newell (Shay Cardoza) Huber, 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and Newell’s best friend, Michelle Ternowski.
Myrtle served as a nurse in the U.S. Army during WWII and spent her time in the Philippines. She graduated from Carroll Iowa Nursing Academy and became a lifetime nurse working at such places as Elkhart General Hospital, Goshen Hospital, Dr. Harris, and was an on-call nurse in Florida. She was a member of the V.F.W., D.A.V., and American Legion in the Goshen and Florida areas. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen and enjoyed collecting tiger paintings, helping coordinate activities at Greencroft and was even the Grand Marshall for 2 years for the Goshen Memorial Parade.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. at the V.F.W., 1201 W Pike St, Goshen, IN 46526.
