Obediah Reed Chalmers

Obediah was born March 22, 1956 in Memphis Tennessee to the Late Carrie Lee Chalmers and the late Robert Chalmers also of Memphis.  Obediah moved to Elkhart Indiana in his teenage years around 16-17 years, he went by the nick name “Bye Bye”.

Obediah was a great cook, artist, certified welder along with many other skilled traits.  He also wrote songs.  Obediah was a member of New Foundation United In Christ Fellowship in Elhart, IN where he was pursuing becoming a Deacon.

God called Obediah home on March 27, 2026 at the age of 70. He will be dearly missed.

Obediah was preceded in death by his parents Carrie Lee Chalmers and Robert Chalmers, brothers; Earl

David Arnold, Frank Charles Nichols, Timothy R.

Nichols, Thomas D Nichols, and Sisters; Terry Nichols, Mary Stone, Jessica D Hicks.

He leaves to cherish his memories; his beloved son

Obidiah R. Pratcher (Audrey), grandchildren; Obidiah R. Pratcher Jr., Jaxon R. Wade, Amari Toliver. 

Brothers; Ledell Chalmers, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Robert C. Chalmers, Kevin V. Chalmers of Memphis, Tennessee.  Sisters; Caroline Parish, Lanelle Chalmers, Darlene D. Chalmers and Trudy C. Jones all of

Memphis Tennessee. His uncles, Jessie Williams and Sony Williams of Memphis, Tennessee.  Obediah also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of Memphis, Nashville Tennessee, Mobile,

Alabama, and Elkhart, Indiana.  Obediah also leaves behind his church family of New Foundation United In Christ Fellowship of Elkhart, IN.

Memorial Services will be April 4, 2026.  Visitation will be from 9-10am, Services will be from 10-11am, at New Foundation United In Christ Fellowship 28103 County Road 20, Elkhart, IN 46517. Pastor Shawn Lange will be presiding.
